How Long Does Mac Update Take
- #3
similar issue here. I can't even update. the xi.2 and 11.2.ane starts to download and and so at that place is "x minutes remaining" fans are on full blast and subsequently good hour or so nothing modify.. so I just restart mac..
there is this process (com.apple.MobileSoftwareUpdate.UpdateBrainService) which takes 99% of my CPU doing something in background (thats probably why fans are boot).
never had an issue before with updating, don't know what to practise..

Large Sur updates have been fairly fast on my M1 MBA.

Updates will take longer with the update-in-place organisation in Large Sur.
The vast bulk of this piece of work is done in the groundwork and you lot can continue to practice whatever you want in the meantime. Personally I call back this is a lot better than staring at the Apple tree logo for 45 minutes in Catalina.

Makes sense, but I was literally at fifteen minutes remaining for over and hour earlier it dropped to ten minutes. Is that normal?
Non sure, simply I would guess that if this was Catalina, and the nature of the update was the same, y'all'd be staring at the Apple logo for fifty-fifty longer.

Information technology seems that Apple has never managed to account for the presence of SSD'due south in their time remaining bar. On my two M1 minis, "most an hour" has meant "about 15 minutes" for both eleven.two and 11.two.1 updates. Of course, I go on my internal drives as complimentary as possible (2TB ext SSD), and reboot immediately before I start organisation updates.

I get it every time I remote in to any of my macs, from a mac. All are running Big Sur, and all have that folder left if they are remoted in to. Weird...
